Do You ...Want... to Learn?

"There is no teaching, only learning. What I mean is... until you are emotionally prepared to learn, nothing about your cognitive position will change. And this is doubly true when it comes to learning new behaviors, especially when those behaviors are tied to something that is as emotionally charged as food."

You Must Be Humble To Learn

From author Moses Kim:

"One of the hardest things to do as a grown, “educated” adult is to learn from others. The inability to learn from others is what guarantees you will have a very childish perspective of the world. If the only books you’ve read were forced on you by the public education system, then your perspective is skewed. It was only when I expanded my realm of knowledge that I saw the world in a whole new way. Fundamentally, human nature never changes. Call it what you may- naivete, ignorance, or outright arrogance- but this is just my experience.

By definition, you must be humble to learn."

Will the Seeds Grow?

I've figured it out- the reason most people don't like reading what I write is because I mess with their drugs- their unhealthy food and drink addictions that they've grown up with. They don't want to hear the truth, or discount the info as false. What a shame!

No one likes being called stupid, me included. But it is a fact, that we each have faults, that we each do stupid things in our lives. I could use many examples, but here's just one: It's as plain as the big nose on my face that it doesn't make sense to drink the milk from a cow/eat any dairy products. I have a hard time understanding, that, after science backed facts and human logic has been presented in this blog from nutrition experts, few seem to get it. They don't get that the natural intention of a cow's milk is for it's calf, not a human. They continue with their life shortening, disease promoting habits, even after logic says otherwise.

When we die, I believe we will know everything. I will look forward to that day. I will want to understand why most of the people I knew didn't follow the advice of two of the best doctors on the planet.

I sincerely wish I would've known what I know now back when my kids were babies. ie: My wife Bev and I thought we were being such great parents by buying "Sauk Rapids Milk"- in the old fashioned bottles. We'd make the several mile trip over the bridge from St. Cloud to Sauk Rapids to the store and pick up our 6 pack of freshly bottled milk, thinking it was better for our kids than the conventionally packaged cow's milk in cartons. Wrong. That's possibly where I got my Chron's disease- which comes from a bacteria in cow's milk that some people are not able to fend off. I was one of the unlucky ones.
That's just one example. But.. you can't go back. What I can do, is move forward, and try to be positive and a good if not great influence re my own lifestyle choices. I need to work on my own faults, not worry about others.

Last winter when I started this blog, my intent was to present healthy lifestyle messages in a fair and unbiased manner. I wrote a lot, I mean a lot. Now over a year later I don't see many fruits from my labor. I did my best to present the information. I'm not seeing any results. Even when the best, most honest, truthful, logical, science backed information is RIGHT IN FRONT OF PEOPLE'S FACES they disregard it. My hope was that after they too discovered the info, that they'd see the light and make some changes. Maybe that'll change someday, maybe not.

The seeds have been planted. Maybe someday people will experience the "aha!" reaction that I've experienced to where "True Health" lies. For most people they don't even start to make changes until after they get a diet related disease. Even then, many will take the conventional route of taking pills, with the incorrect assumption that the pills will handle the disease, rather than heal the diet related disease with a healthy diet/lifestyle. An old friend of mine who takes cholesterol pills once said, "I can eat whatever I want, just so I take my cholesterol pills." How sadly mistaken he was.

If you don't eat or drink animal foods (the only foods that contain cholesterol), you won't have a cholesterol problem. But because food from animals have addictive chemicals, and since you've eaten animal foods all your life, chances are you'll continue to consume a disease promoting diet.

Will the seeds grow? I hope so!

These are a few of my favorite things.

There are plenty of choices with a plant based diet.

I love my healthy plant food diet. The longer you eat a healthy plant based diet, the better the healthy foods taste. Over time you will lose your cravings for the unhealthy food and drink addictions that you've grown up with. If you can give up/limit processed sugar, salt, and oil, your taste buds will become very sensitive to the natural tastes that are sweet and healthy for you. You will never know what I am talking about unless you give this a try. I sincerely hope that you do. I believe that once you have attained a healthy diet, you will never go back.

Healthy eating is the best for you, and the best for the earth. If the people on the earth would transition to a plant based diet, there would be much less hunger. For instance, instead of using so much land to grow food for animals we could be feeding people instead.

Eating a plant based diet becomes spiritual, because you know you are doing what is best for you, and best for the earth. I sincerely hope you think about transitioning to a plant based diet. http://www.drfuhrman.com/ http://www.drmcdougall.com/

I Am at WAR With Cheese!

Think about the word "CHEESE". The word sounds kinda "cheesey" doesn't it? "Cheese" just SOUNDS like a word that clogs up your arteries. Your arteries! Those are the things that deliver blood to your heart and other parts of your body! So the next time you think about the word cheese, or eat cheese, think about the word "sludge."

Cheese is made from bovine slime. If you are one who puts your mouth around a cow's teats (in actuality it's what you're doing whenever you consume any food from a cow) you are consuming unhealthy substances: cholesterol and cow's milk proteins that have scientifically been proven to cause disease in humans. It just aint right! Don't eat it! It is promoting disease in you! Is that what you want to do? Eat things that are shortening your life, as well as exploiting animals?

Now when I line up at Subway preparing to orchestrate my "Salad Sandwich" (bread plus all veggies), I am just waiting for the worker to ask, "What kind of cheese would you like?" (Almost everyone has cheese.) In the past I said, "I don't eat cheese". Now I say, "I eat very healthy. I don't eat cheese." When I used to be uninformed re cheese, I would order a DOUBLE CHEESE pizza, and that's it- nothing else on the pizza. I LOVED cheese. I had cheese on this, cheese on that. Cheese is hopelessly addictive. There are addictive chemicals in ALL food from animals. Cheese is one thing (chicken too) that I still think about. After eating cheese and chicken for 50 years it IS a little hard to completely forget about. I hope that with time the unhealthy cravings will continue to subside. It's taken me awhile, but now my diet is mostly raw and cooked plant foods- fruits and veggies, whole grains, beans, raw seeds and nuts. I eat very little processed sugar, salt, and oil. (Cooked in a healthy way means using water to steam or boil- no oil. Oil is fat. The fat you eat is the fat you wear.)

If you eat something that is unhealthy for you, it hurts you.
If you eat something that is healthy for you, it helps you.
Find out what is healthy, and what is not.
Knowledge is power.

Now you know. Will you continue to hurt yourself?

PEOPLE FOR PLANTS!

I've been told that many of my ideas regarding nutrition and health are ahead of their time. The general population of the U.S. is hopelessly addicted to animal foods and other unhealthy food and drink. It is unrealistic to believe that the masses are going to change any time soon.

But there is a slowly growing army of people "in the know" that are starting to create change. The message of "Health is in plant foods" is beginning to cause change in the status quo. School lunches are beginning to add more fruits and vegetable selections. Wal-mart is promoting more fruits and vegetables, pledging to eliminate many junk foods. Our wonderful first lady Mrs. Obama is crusading for our healthy plant based diet cause. On Oprah today (2/1/11) there will be a discussion on the vegan diet with Michael Pollan. Heaven nows Oprah NEEDS a vegan diet- if only she could get turned on to what's right. She has such tremendous influence on others and could lead by example!

I am a school assembly performer traveling across America promoting plant foods in my 45 minute programs. Two lines from my show: "The healthiest food on the earth is called whole, natural food. Whole natural food comes either right off a tree, or from the ground- from a garden or a farmer's field."
After one such show at a Native American school in northeast Nebraska, the school provided "treats" for all the kids, which just happened to be all raw fruit and vegetables! Typical fare in the past has been ice cream, cake, M & Ms, etc. That made me so happy!

Appreciate it when there's a gem in the rough. :)
